General Management:
- Focuses on overseeing the daily operations of an organization.
- Involves key functions such as planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling to ensure smooth workflow.
- General managers are responsible for implementing the organization’s objectives and optimizing resource utilization.
Strategic Management:
Focuses on long-term planning and critical decision-making to ensure sustainability in a dynamic business environment.
Deals with shaping the organization’s long-term direction and success.
Involves defining the vision, mission, and goals, and formulating strategies to achieve them.
Requires analyzing external factors, identifying opportunities and threats, and making strategic decisions to maintain a competitive edge.

1. Student Membership
Requirements:
- Preliminary Stage: Open to holders of NCE, OND, WAEC, NECO, or equivalent qualifications.
- Number of Subjects: 8
- Number of Diets: 2

Exemptions:
- No exemptions for NCE or OND holders in non-management disciplines.
- NCE or OND holders in management-related disciplines are exempt from subjects 2, 3, 4, and 8.
- WAEC, NECO, and equivalent holders must complete all subjects.
Knowledge Stage:
- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree, postgraduate qualification, or equivalent.
- Number of Subjects: 6
- Number of Diets: 1

- Eligibility: Master’s degree or equivalent.
- Number of Subjects: 10

Exemptions:
- MSc holders in Strategic Management are exempt from subjects 1, 2, 4, 5, and 10 (first diet) and must complete the remaining subjects in the second diet.
- Ph.D. holders in Strategic Management are exempt from the entire skill stage.
Application Stage (Professional Level):
- Eligibility: Ph.D. or equivalent.
- Number of Subjects: 5
- Number of Diets: 1
Requirements:
- Review at least 20 academic journals (10 must be related to strategic management and leadership).
- Publish at least two articles in approved journals.
- Complete a six-month strategic management internship in governance.
- Submit and present a self-authored thesis.
2. Associate Membership
A candidate qualifies as an associate member if they:
- Successfully complete all required professional examinations approved by the institute’s council.
- Hold student membership of the institute.
3. Full Membership
To qualify for full membership, an individual must:
- Meet the academic and experience requirements set by the council.
- Hold associate membership with at least four years of practical experience.
- Possess additional relevant qualifications deemed suitable by the council.
4. Fellowship Membership
Individuals eligible for fellowship status must:
Hold full membership with a minimum of 10 years of practical experience.
Be a founding member with strong academic and professional qualifications.
Be a university graduate (academic or non-academic) whose contributions to economic and management roles in the public or private sector have significantly impacted national growth.
Have provided exceptional development services or played a key role in enhancing the institute’s professional reputation.
